Cinnamon and Sugar Roasted Chestnuts

I have always looked at chestnuts when they are in season and have wanted to do something with them but just never did.

They have always reminded me of the Conckers back in England. The kids have a game with them where you put a hole through your chosen concker and thread a piece of string through it. The aim of the game is to flick your concker at your opponent’s one and the first one to break loses… I wonder if it’s still the schoolyard hit it was when I was there?

Anyway… I bit the bullet this week and bought a hand full. I also picked up a copy of Good Taste magazine where, unknowingly, it had a recipe for Roasted Chestnut’s in Cinnamon Butter. It looked so good I had to do that for my first chestnut recipe.

With Christmas in July just over a month away for the southern hemisphere, this is the perfect recipe to kick it off. They freeze really well for up to 4 months so stock up now and start roasting them in Winter.

Enjoy,

Blondie  :)
